An Arrest Is Not a Conviction
An arrest does not prove guilt. A charge may be declined, changed, dismissed, or resolved for the accused, while a booking entry does not state the final result. New York records can later be sealed or corrected, making an old copy incomplete. Confirm the disposition with the originating court and any disputed fingerprint history with DCJS.
Treat every record you find as a starting point, not a verdict. Only the originating agency can confirm what a record currently says and whether it is still releasable.
Verify With the Official Source
Nothing here is an official record. Confirm a court date with the clerk, possible warrant instructions with the issuing court or Sheriff, custody with the Essex County Jail or DOCCS, and registry status with the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Certified copies can come only from the issuing office.
